Getting organised

Inspired by Anthea and Andrew we have decided to enter the blog business to document our 9 week trip to Europe. This trip is a long held goal for both of us as we missed out on the rite of passage trip to Europe undertaken by so many of our peers in the 1960s and 70s. We are going at this particular time to coincide with the remembrance ceremony for the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele to be held in October in Ypres in Belgium as we both have relatives (great uncles) killed in WW1. Before arriving in Belgium we plan to travel through Germany, France and Italy.

For those of you interested in pre-trip planning we can only recommend you to this excellent website .

We are leaving in 2 weeks to fly to Berlin where we will meet up with Anthea and Andrew. Before that there are many things to organise, although the fact is we could get on the plane tomorrow with our passports, tickets and credit cards and pick up the rest as we went along (although the cards might be looking a bit overworked in a short time).

Hopefully before we leave we will both conquer the process of putting photos on Flickr and will post a link to that site in due course.

Look forward to seeing lots of wonderful macro shots on the Flickr page, and a detailed spreadsheet outlining your itinerary with cross references to pertinent historical facts from the battle sites.
